Talent pool

What does Talent pool mean?

A list you can join to hear when an employer opens applications. Barclays, for example, lets you sign up to its talent pool.

Employer profile Barclays apprenticeships The UK bank. It pays apprentices £25,200 from day one, with two-year Level 3 and 4 apprenticeships for people with GCSEs, and higher and degree apprenticeships of up to three or four years for people with A levels or Highers.
Hybrid working
Splitting your working week between the office and home. Some apprenticeships, like Barclays', use hybrid working; site-based roles usually don't.
Permanent contract
A job with no fixed end date. Some employers, like Barclays and the Higher Level Apprenticeships in Northern Ireland, offer apprenticeships on a permanent contract.
Technician
A skilled practical role that keeps equipment, systems or processes working. Many Level 3 engineering apprenticeships train technicians.
Telephone interview
An early-stage interview by phone, usually short, to check your interest and basic suitability before later stages.
Trade apprenticeship
An apprenticeship in a skilled hands-on trade, such as electrician or pipe fitter. Laing O'Rourke's trade apprenticeships are at Levels 2 and 3.
Traineeship
A training programme that prepares you for work. Some employers, like ITV and Channel 4, run paid traineeships that are separate from their apprenticeships.
