Privacy
We don't have accounts, forms, newsletters or adverts. Here's the small amount of information that's processed when you visit.
In short
- We do not ask for, or store, your name, email address or any other personal details.
- We do not set cookies for analytics or advertising.
- We use privacy-focused analytics to count page views and see which sites send us visitors.
- Fonts and images are served from our own site, not from third-party font or image services.
- YouTube videos only load from YouTube when you choose to play them.
Hosting and security
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, so that it can deliver the page and protect the site from abuse. Cloudflare acts as our service provider for this. You can read Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate: for example, how many page views a guide receives and which websites refer visitors to us. Cloudflare states that this service does not use cookies or other browser storage, does not fingerprint visitors and does not store visitors’ IP addresses. We only see aggregated figures, not information about individual visitors.
YouTube videos
Some pages include a related video from YouTube. Until you press play, the page shows a still image stored on our own site, and your browser does not contact YouTube. When you press play, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. From that point YouTube (owned by Google) receives information such as your IP address, and may store information in your browser while the video plays. You can read Google’s privacy policy. Links to other websites
Employer profiles and guides link to official employer and government websites. Those sites have their own privacy policies and may set their own cookies once you visit them.
Your rights
Because we do not collect personal details, there is usually nothing we hold that identifies you. You have rights under UK data protection law, and you can find out more from the Information Commissioner’s Office.
