Pro rata

What does Pro rata mean?

Paid in proportion to the hours you work, so if you work fewer hours than full time you get a matching share of the full-time salary. Tesco's Stronger Starts salary is quoted pro rata.

Employer profile Tesco apprenticeships The supermarket chain. Its Stronger Starts Retail Apprenticeship needs no qualifications, lasts at least 12 months and starts on £23,662 (pro rata) in stores across England. It also runs a finance apprenticeship at its head office.
Salary
Your pay for a year, before tax. Apprentices are paid a salary or an hourly rate, and many employers publish starting salaries.
Probation period
A trial period at the start of a job, often a few months, when you and your employer check it's working out.
Procurement
Buying the goods and services an organisation needs, at the right price and quality. JLR's supply chain and procurement degree apprenticeship covers it.
Production (media)
Making TV, radio, audio or online content, from research to filming and editing. The BBC runs production apprenticeships.
Professional apprenticeship
An apprenticeship in a professional office or technical role, often at higher or degree level.
Professional qualification
A qualification from a professional body, like the ACA, CIMA or NCTJ Diploma, that shows you can work in a particular profession. Many apprenticeships include one instead of, or as well as, a degree.
