Referee
What does Referee mean?
The person who gives you a reference. Always ask before you name someone as a referee.
Related terms
- Reference
- A short statement about you from someone who knows you, like a teacher or manager, that an employer asks for before you start.
- Relocation
- Moving to a different area for a job. Some employers help with moving costs; others, like JLR, say they don't.
- Resit and retake
- Your options in England if you don't pass your end-point assessment first time. A resit means doing one or more parts again without extra training; a retake means more training first.
- Results day
- The day exam results come out. If an apprenticeship offer depends on your grades, it's the day the employer checks them.
- Right to work
- Being legally allowed to work in the UK. Many employers say they can't sponsor visas for apprentices, so you need the right to work for the whole apprenticeship.
- Right to work check
- The check employers must make that you're legally allowed to work in the UK, usually by seeing your passport or immigration status, before you start.
