BATJIC rates

What does BATJIC rates mean?

Pay rates for building apprentices agreed by the Building and Allied Trades Joint Industry Council, used in England and Wales. Scotland uses SBATC rates. Barratt Redrow pays its trade apprentices these rates.

Apprentice
Someone doing an apprenticeship: an employee who is paid to work and train towards a recognised qualification at the same time.
ATT
The Association of Tax Technicians qualification, for people starting a career in tax. Trainees on PwC's tax programme study for it.
Benefits
Extras you get on top of your pay, such as a pension, extra holiday, discounts or private healthcare. Look at the whole package, not just the salary.
Block release
Doing your off-the-job training in blocks, such as a week at college every so often, rather than one day a week (day release).
BSc (Hons)
A Bachelor of Science with honours, a common bachelor's degree. Several degree apprenticeships, like the Digital and Technology Solutions apprenticeships at KPMG and Lidl, lead to one.
BTEC
A vocational qualification that many employers accept as an equivalent to GCSEs (at Level 2) or A levels (at Level 3). Sky, for example, accepts BTEC Level 2 instead of five GCSEs for some apprenticeships.
