What a mechatronics apprentice does
The mechatronics apprenticeship trains you to look after the automated machines in Amazon’s buildings. Your first year is classroom and workshop training, including some residential study, then you move to a fulfilment centre, sortation centre or delivery station. Amazon says it’s a 40-hour week that might include weekend or night shifts, so think about whether that works for you before you apply.
What do you need?
Each programme has its own requirements, and they vary a lot: from three GCSEs at grade 4 for mechatronics to ABB at A level (including maths or computer science) for software development. All the programmes we checked need you to be 18 or over. Amazon doesn’t publish apprentice pay on the programme pages we looked at, so it’s worth asking.
What they do
Amazon's UK apprenticeship site says apprentices may be based at fulfilment centres, within its distribution network or at corporate offices in Edinburgh, Manchester, Cambridge, Bristol or London, depending on the programme, with apprentices placed across the UK and Ireland.
